Robert Parker tastes wines of Tikalo
The famous guru of the wine has paid attention on the wines of this Cellar and has placed them between the recommended Spanish wines. Of hands of his importer, Eric Solomon, Parker qualifies some marks of wine of this Cellar with 89 and 90 points.
Albaliza Tinto, a blend of 65% Tempranillo and 35% Grenache. Its deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by pure, sweet notes of black cherries, licorice, and wild mountain berry fruit. This medium to full-bodied Tinto exhibits notions of pepper and spice along with fine purity, surprising glycerine, and plenty of heart, soul, and quality for its price. Drink it over the next 1-2 years.
Rubens 2004 , if you enjoy elegance, you will like the 2004 Rubens. Made from 100% Tempranillo, it is a full-bodied offering revealing copious tannin, spice box, and leathery components along with loads of fruit, a nice-sized mouthfeel, and good length. Enjoy it over the next 1-2 years.
Kios, the outstanding 2003 Kios (100% Tempranillo) is an exceptional bargain. Attractive blackberry and blueberry aromas are followed by elegant, medium to full-bodied flavors. Tremendous density, purity, and ripeness cascade over the palate in this seamless beauty. It should drink well for 1-3 years.
The Kios Cabernet Sauvignon is internationally styled. Scents and flavours of vanilla ice cream intermixed with espresso, coconut, mocha, and black currants will give reactionaries in the wine world all the ammunition they need to foolishly argue that Spanish wines are losing their soul, while ignoring the hundreds, if not thousands, of new wines made from indigenous varietals that have been reclaimed as well as ambitious projects by young men and women. While this is a well-made, straightforward Spanish red, it is overpriced for what it offers, which is unusual given the importer, who makes a living finding Spanish wines that are essentially under priced. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.
